“Where is the recession?”—it is not in glossy GDP charts but in the strained kitchens of the middle class. Supporters flaunt UPI records, vehicle sales, and bank lending as proof of prosperity, yet ordinary families cannot pay bills with statistics. Salaries crawl while expenses sprint—vegetables, LPG, fuel, electricity, school fees, and healthcare eat away savings. Rising EMIs and shrinking disposable income trap households in debt cycles. GDP growth benefits a few corporates, while unemployment and inequality rise. UPI transactions show changing payment methods, not rising incomes. The true economy is measured by how much remains in a family’s pocket at month’s end. For millions, the answer is painfully little. Recession lives not in PowerPoint slides, but in everyday struggles of ordinary citizens.

Mamata Banerjee, once dismissive of the INDIA bloc, has now rushed to Delhi with Abhishek Banerjee to attend its crucial meeting. In Bengal, her dominance has weakened—Congress, Left, and TMC alike have suffered setbacks at BJP’s hands. Rumors of TMC MPs preparing to defect add to her troubles, leaving Mamata scrambling to hold her flock together. Meanwhile, the INDIA bloc itself looks shaky: Stalin, Kejriwal, and CPI(M) are skipping the meeting, while leaders like Hemant Soren and Omar Abdullah express discontent. Police action, corruption allegations, and public anger further erode Mamata’s grip in Bengal. With BJP ruling over most of India’s land and population, national politics remains Modi versus Rahul Gandhi. Yet in Delhi, Mamata seeks relevance, even as her old aura fades.

In Buldhana district, a shocking case has stirred outrage after two senior police officers were suspended for falsely declaring a living girl dead and implicating her father and brother in a fabricated murder. The incident began when an unidentified body was found near Rajura dam. Instead of waiting for medical or DNA confirmation, officers hastily claimed it was Shivani, who was actually alive. To cover their blunder, they arrested her father and brother, subjecting them to brutal custodial torture, including being hung upside down. Public anger grew as the family exposed the abuse. Taking swift action, the Amravati Police Commissioner suspended Inspector Sunil Ambulkar and Inspector Nitin Patil. State DGP Sadanand Date has also intervened, planning a visit to Jalgaon Jamod for a detailed review of the case.

Nearly 20 Trinamool Congress MPs, including Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, have decided to extend support to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. According to Dastidar’s statement to PTI, the MPs have formally communicated their decision by sending a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, expressing their desire to align with the NDA. This move marks a significant political development, as it signals a shift in parliamentary dynamics and could strengthen the NDA’s position in the Lok Sabha. The decision reflects growing internal divisions within TMC and highlights the changing alliances in national politics. Dastidar emphasized that the group of MPs is committed to working with the NDA, suggesting that this alignment may influence upcoming legislative strategies and debates in Parliament.
