A shocking case in Pune has exposed the rot in the revenue department. A sub-divisional officer in Junnar-Ambegaon was caught red-handed accepting ₹2 lakh bribe for issuing a completion certificate, after allegedly demanding ₹5 lakh from a builder. The Anti-Corruption Bureau’s trap revealed how “service” has turned into “deal.” Citizens now ask: has bribery become the norm for government documents? Is every certificate, NOC, or permit tied to a rate card? The incident has sparked outrage, with locals questioning why they must pay bribes despite paying taxes. The real concern is whether this probe will reach senior officials or end with one scapegoat. If officers themselves demand bribes, where should ordinary people seek justice? It’s time for “No bribe, fast work” governance.

The essence of Indian democracy was on display when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Sir Gangaram Hospital to inquire about Sonia Gandhi’s health. In a political landscape often marked by sharp divides, this gesture reflected the human side of leadership—where concern for an opponent’s well-being transcends rivalry. Such moments remind citizens that democracy is not just about elections or debates, but also about respect, empathy, and shared values. Modi’s visit underscored that political differences should never overshadow compassion. For many, this act symbolized the maturity of Indian democracy, where leaders can stand apart ideologically yet unite in humanity. It is a rare but powerful reminder that governance is ultimately about people, not just power.

The Atal Setu, designed to connect Mumbai and Navi Mumbai in just 20 minutes, is facing public disapproval due to its steep toll of ₹250 per trip. For ordinary citizens, this cost is simply unaffordable, turning a symbol of progress into a burden. Infrastructure should unite people, not exclude them. When a bridge meant to ease traffic and save time becomes inaccessible to the majority, it defeats its purpose. The government must rethink toll policies—development cannot be measured only in concrete and steel, but in inclusivity and affordability. Public infrastructure is funded by taxpayers; making them pay exorbitantly again is unjust. Atal Setu risks becoming a monument to misplaced priorities unless accessibility is restored. True progress is when every citizen can benefit.

MahaRERA has delivered a significant order against the promoters of the “Aswani Paradise” housing project in Wakad after residents complained of incomplete facilities, poor construction, and safety lapses. The authority directed promoters Anil and Shrichand Aswani to rectify all defects within 60 days. Complaints highlighted unfinished mechanical parking systems, seepage, inadequate fire safety, and unauthorized parking that blocked emergency access. Initially filed by Omprakash and Manisha Jangir in April 2025, the case later gained collective backing from the housing society. MahaRERA found merit in the grievances and mandated completion of parking, repair of construction flaws, activation of fire safety, and removal of illegal parking. The regulator warned that failure to comply would invite strict legal action under RERA, setting a precedent for accountability in real estate.

Dr. Mamata Shivtare, daughter of Purandar MLA Vijay Shivtare, has set a remarkable example of love and sacrifice by donating one of her kidneys to save her father’s life. The transplant surgery was successfully performed at a Mumbai hospital, giving the senior leader a new lease of life after years of battling kidney disease and undergoing dialysis. As a doctor herself, Mamata understood the risks but chose to step forward, combining professional knowledge with personal devotion. This act has been hailed across Maharashtra as a symbol of the deep bond between father and daughter. Beyond politics, the story highlights the importance of organ donation and the strength of family ties, reminding society that compassion and courage can truly change lives.
