CBI Court Sentences Former Branch Manager, Bank of Maharashtra to Seven Years RI in Rs. 3.61 Crore Bank Fraud Case

The CBI Court Jaipur, on 30.09.2026, has convicted and sentenced Ram Bharos Meena, the then Branch Manager, Bank of Maharashtra, Gopalpura Bypass Branch, Jaipur, to Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for Seven Years with a fine of Rs. 2,85,000 and Makhan Lal Meena, a private person, has been sentenced to Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for Three Years with a fine of Rs 25,000, in a bank fraud case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case on 09.11.2016 on the written complaint dated 03.08.2016 lodged by the Bank of Maharashtra, Zonal Office, Jaipur alleging therein that the accused Ram Bharos Meena, the then Branch Manager, illegally sanctioned loans in 17 accounts during 15.01.2015 to 06.05.2015 without valid loan applications, documents or security, by abusing his official position and resorted to fraud and forgery, thereby causing wrongful loss of Rs. 3.61 Crore to the bank.
After investigation, the CBI filed charge-sheet on 09.07.2020 against above mentioned 02 accused persons and charges against them were framed on 01.12.2021.
The Hon'ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the two accused persons, accordingly.

Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Guwahati Zonal Office, conducted search op on 01.10.2026 at 16 premises located in Guwahati, Siliguri, Bagdogra, Phansidewa and Behar under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, relating to the smuggling of foreign-origin areca nut (betel nut) into India through the Myanmar border and the laundering of the proceeds thereof.
ED investigation was initiated on the basis of eleven FIRs registered by Assam and West Bengal Police under various Sections of the IPC/BNS and the NDPS Act persons engaged in the smuggling, transportation and sale of betel nut of Indonesia, Thai and Burmese origin, which was brought into Mizoram via Myanmar and moved on consignees in West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and other States on the str forged GST invoices, e-way bills and transport documents. Searches had earlier been con in the case at 20 locations on 03.07.2026.
Investigation has revealed that a well-organised, multi-layered smuggling and lau chain stretching from Myanmar to the consuming markets of North and West India. Dri of Indonesian, Thai and Burmese origin is brought overland to the Indo-Myanmar osite Champai district of Mizoram and ferried across the Tiau river at Zokhawthar bypassing the Land Customs Station, where agents on the Myanmar side sell it the Indian side. These firms are proprietorship concerns registered in the names of Champai who have no real stake in the business; their GST registrations are set up, funded and operated by controllers based in Silchar (Assam), who ro banking credentials and direct every purchase, payment and dispatch. no recorded production of areca nut and, until recently, Mizoram ing units. is aggregated at Champai and trucked out of M appearance of legitimate domestic tr

Ltd., M/s N R Associates, and connected individuals in a major foreign-origin areca nut smuggling and laundering case, leading to the seizure of Rs. 95 Lakh (Approx.) in cash, digital devices, freezing of FD (Rs. 85 Lakh Approx.) & various incriminating documents.

वाशिम जिल्ह्यातील काजळंबा तलावाची आज प्रत्यक्ष पाहणी करून मच्छीमार बांधवांशी संवाद साधला.
यंदा पावसाच्या अभावामुळे तलावातील पाण्याची पातळी मोठ्या प्रमाणात घटली असून, त्याचा परिणाम मत्स्यव्यवसायावर झाला आहे. गेल्यावर्षी पूर्ण क्षमतेने भरलेला काजळंबा तलाव सध्या केवळ 5 टक्के पाणीसाठ्यावर आहे. तलावातील गाळ काढण्यास पाणीसाठवण क्षमता वाढून मत्स्य उत्पादनालाही चालना मिळण्यास मदत होईल. त्यामुळे सद्यस्थिती लक्षात घेता तलावातील गाळ काढण्याचे काम तातडीने हाती घेण्याचे निर्देश संबंधित अधिकाऱ्यांना दिले.
तसेच नुकसानग्रस्त मच्छीमारांचे पंचनामे करून शेतकऱ्यांप्रमाणेच त्यांनाही शासनाच्या माध्यमातून मदत मिळवून देण्यासाठी लवकरात लवकर कार्यवाही करण्याचे निर्देश संबंधित अधिकाऱ्यांना दिले.

मुंबई महानगरपालिकेच्या के-पश्चिम विभागात जनतेच्या विविध प्रश्नांवर महत्त्वपूर्ण बैठक संपन्न; तातडीने कार्यवाही करण्याचे अधिकाऱ्यांना निर्देश अंधेरी/मुंबई: जनतेच्या दैनंदिन आणि नागरी प्रश्नांचा निपटारा करण्यासाठी मुंबई महानगरपालिकेच्या 'के-पश्चिम' (K-West) विभाग कार्यालयात नुकतीच एक महत्त्वपूर्ण बैठक पार पडली. या बैठकीत परिसरातील अनेक प्रलंबित नागरी समस्यांवर सविस्तर चर्चा करण्यात आली असून, त्यावर तातडीने उपाययोजना आणि आवश्यक कार्यवाही करण्याचे कडक निर्देश प्रशासनिक अधिकाऱ्यांना देण्यात आले. बैठकीत खालील प्रमुख मुद्द्यांवर सविस्तर चर्चा झाली. पाणीपुरवठा समस्या: नागरिकांना भेडसावणारी अपुऱ्या व कमी दाबाने होणाऱ्या पाणीपुरवठ्याची अडचण. हॉकर्स व अनधिकृत बांधकामे: अनधिकृत फेरीवाल्यांचा त्रास तसेच परिसरातील बेकायदेशीर बांधकामांवर कारवाई. रस्ते व पायाभूत सुविधा: विकास नियोजन (DP) रोड, तसेच सध्या सुरू असलेल्या रस्ते व पुलांच्या कामांची सद्यस्थिती व ती वेळेत पूर्ण करणे. स्वच्छता व सार्वजनिक सुविधा: उद्यानांची योग्य देखभाल आणि सार्वजनिक स्वच्छतागृहांचे प्रश्न. या बैठकीस शिवसेनेचे विभागप्रमुख श्री. अल्ताफ पेवेकर यांच्यासह प्रमुख पदाधिकारी राजू पेंणोस्कर, राजेश पाटील, संदीप बांचेकर, सौ. अवंतिका टाऊल, उपेंद्र पांडे, परवेझ शेख, परेश वाडीकर, संतोष आंबेकर, समीर राणे, स्नेहा शिंगण व तसेच शिवसेनेचे इतर पदाधिकारी, कार्यकर्ते व स्थानिक नागरिक मोठ्या संख्येने उपस्थित होते.

Fresh off my meeting with Nike's senior leadership in the US, I received a note from the legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar ji.
He wrote that he was the first Indian athlete to sign with Nike USA in the 80s and fondly recalled how terrific the Nike campus in Portland is, rich in sporting history.
What began as a partnership on the cricket field now has the potential to power manufacturing in India, create jobs, strengthen local sourcing, and open new opportunities for our youth.
We are looking forward to building further on the India-Nike partnership.
