The Maharashtra government’s green light to the much-awaited Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2025 is a bold and progressive move, aiming to push the state to the forefront of India's EV revolution. With toll exemptions for EVs on key expressways like the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Atal Setu, and Samruddhi Mahamarg, the policy not only incentivizes adoption but also offers direct benefits to EV users. The allocation of ₹1,993 crore for implementation shows the state’s seriousness in building strong charging infrastructure and promoting widespread usage. Additionally, slashing motor vehicle taxes and waiving registration and renewal charges for EVs is a significant cost relief for buyers. What sets this policy apart is the strategic approach to push both private and commercial EV segments. The 10–15% purchase subsidy based on vehicle category, valid till 2030, makes EVs more affordable across the board—from two-wheelers to tractors. By offering 50% toll discount even on other highways and investing in infrastructure, Maharashtra is positioning itself as a national leader in sustainable mobility. This isn’t just a policy—it’s a powerful statement of intent to fight pollution, reduce oil dependency, and lead the clean transport transition.

Donald Trump’s second stint in office is already unraveling, and the numbers don’t lie. His historically low 41% approval rating just 100 days in shows that Americans are rapidly losing confidence in his chaotic leadership. With just 22% strongly backing him, the country is clearly disillusioned with Trump’s erratic behavior — from bizarre foreign policy ambitions like annexing Greenland and Canada, to pulling the plug on vital global aid. The fallout from his anti-DEI stance is evident in the sharp decline in support from women and Hispanic voters, highlighting how divisive and regressive his policies have been.
Economically, Trump is faring no better. His obsession with tariffs has sent shockwaves through markets and hurt consumer sentiment, with inflation concerns dragging his approval down to a dismal 35%. Even on immigration, where he once held sway, approval is slipping. While he oddly receives majority approval for his gender identity policies, it’s clearly not enough to offset the widespread dissatisfaction across the board. Trump’s presidency is spiraling early, and if this trend continues, he could go down as one of the most unpopular presidents in modern U.S. history.

The sudden closure of Nabar Guruji Vidyalaya, a Marathi-medium school in the heart of Dadar, is nothing short of a cultural betrayal. This isn’t just about one school shutting down — it’s about the systematic erasure of Marathi identity in its own capital. How can a city built on the sweat and soul of Marathi-speaking citizens allow a legacy institution to die in silence? Where are the so-called protectors of regional language and education now?
This is a direct result of years of apathy, misgovernance, and blind obsession with English-medium privatization. The government has failed — failed to protect its language, failed to support grassroots education, and failed every student and teacher who believed in this system. If iconic schools like Nabar Guruji can be discarded like this, what future does Marathi education even have in Mumbai? This is not just a wake-up call — it’s a full-blown alarm, and if the people don’t rise now, there’ll be nothing left to save.

Mumbai is burning—quite literally—and the authorities are scrambling while fires erupt across the city. Within just 48 hours, three major blazes have struck key locations: the ED office in Ballard Estate, a bakery in Byculla, and now the Link Square Mall in Bandra West. The most recent incident exposed glaring incompetence, with NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique rightfully slamming the fire department for arriving ill-equipped and fumbling a spark that turned into a Level-IV inferno. Despite deploying advanced tools like a fire-robot, the damage was already done due to the delayed and mismanaged response.
This is not just negligence—it's a systemic failure. The firefighting force appears to be reactive, not proactive, despite Mumbai being a vertical city packed with high-risk infrastructure. When lives and property are at stake, excuses don’t cut it. It’s outrageous that Mumbai’s so-called emergency systems are proving incapable of handling modern urban disasters. Heads should roll, audits must be ordered, and reforms are long overdue. How many more wake-up calls will it take?

Following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has taken swift precautionary steps by shutting down 48 out of 87 tourist locations across the Kashmir Valley. These include newly developed and remote destinations such as Daksum, Kokernag, Sinthan Top, and Mughal Gardens. While there has been no formal notification yet, access to these areas has been restricted to minimize risk to tourists and maintain control over potentially vulnerable zones. In response to the escalating threat, the Indian government has empowered its armed forces with full operational freedom to take appropriate retaliatory measures. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting with defense officials and reiterated the nation’s confidence in its military capabilities. The government’s firm stance reflects a strategic and decisive approach to combating terrorism, ensuring both national security and public reassurance.
