Citizenship for the Persecuted, Warning for the Intruders! The Foreigners and Immigration Act has changed the political pulse of Bengal. For the first time, persecuted Hindus, Buddhists, and Sikhs from Pakistan and Bangladesh who entered India before 2024 have been granted citizenship—already gazetted into law. Nearly 38 Assembly constituencies in Bengal, dominated by such communities, have welcomed the move with relief and pride. Yet, amid thunderous support, one lone voice stood in Parliament—TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee—fully aware of the political earthquake this law carries. Beyond relief, the Act sends a sharp warning: illegal infiltrators will now face the law, and those who aided them—by issuing Aadhaar cards, offering jobs, or facilitating travel—will also be punished. For decades, the Constitution had no teeth on this front. Today, a legal shield finally stands, protecting both identity and sovereignty.

Fact Check: The Rashtrapati Bhavan Masjid Claim! Social media claims that a mosque was built inside Rashtrapati Bhavan during Dr. Zakir Husain’s tenure are false. The truth lies in history. When the Rashtrapati Bhavan—then called Viceroy’s House—was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens between 1912 and 1929, the British included three places of worship inside its estate: a Hindu temple, a mosque, and a church. These were not political statements but practical facilities for employees of different faiths working in the vast presidential estate. Thus, the mosque is not a creation of Congress appeasement or Zakir Husain’s presidency, but a colonial-era legacy that coexists with a temple and church. Claims that it proves Congress is a “Muslim party” are baseless. Fact: Rashtrapati Bhavan reflects India’s pluralist ethos, not communal favouritism. Truth must prevail over misinformation.

The Double Advantage Game! In India’s reservation maze, a silent winner emerges—Muslims. Classified as minorities, they already enjoy exclusive benefits: scholarships, special financial aid, and community-specific schemes. Now, by also slipping into categories like EWS and SEBC, they unlock an additional layer of concessions. Effectively, it is a double advantage—two doors opening to the same treasure chest of state resources. Meanwhile, the original beneficiaries of EWS or OBC quotas find themselves competing on tilted ground. The tragedy is not merely policy loopholes but public blindness. While others debate endlessly, one community strategically secures every possible benefit. Green flags fly not just in politics but also in welfare corridors. Unless this imbalance is addressed, genuine backward classes and economically weaker groups risk being pushed aside in their own rightful space.

Justice Must Not Be Selective! The Delhi High Court’s refusal to grant bail to Umar Khalid sends a strong message: those accused of fanning violence cannot escape accountability. Yet the nation still waits for equal firmness against Sharjeel Imam, whose video speeches openly called for cutting off India’s “chicken neck” in Assam—a statement far more seditious and dangerous. Law must not appear selective. Denying bail to one while dragging feet on the other weakens public trust. For citizens, true relief will not come from symbolic actions but from the assurance that every conspirator, regardless of identity or patronage, faces the same iron hand of justice. India cannot afford soft corners for those who threaten sovereignty. Accountability delayed is justice denied—and in national security, delay is nothing less than betrayal.

CAA Extension: A Humanitarian Milestone! The Modi government’s decision to extend the cut-off date for the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) from 2014 to December 31, 2024, is more than a legal adjustment—it is a turning point for countless lives. Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians fleeing religious persecution in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan now find legal shelter in India without fear of deportation. For years, they lived in the shadows—without documents, without dignity, under constant fear. This extension removes that fear, granting them not just legal stay but the hope of eventual citizenship. No other nation opens its doors so generously to the persecuted. India, true to its civilizational ethos of “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah,” has reaffirmed its role as both protector and refuge. This is not mere governance; it is compassion in action, a victory of humanity over centuries of injustice.
